Elliot Lake
Having a picnic on the way to Mississagi Park

Today we headed out to see an old mine site and then on a run up north to have a picnic...

All of this land we're walking on used to be a mine site.
The above picture is what it used to look like in 1985.
Thanks to John Muir for this picture

Pretty much everything you have seen in these pictures was once a very productive mine. Virtually all traces of it have been removed and as you can see winderness is reclaiming its own

Just about all the evidence that is left

We're now off up North aways to have our picnic

And here is the picnic :-)

And here is Linda and John

And if you look closely evidence of shooting!

And we turn here to go into the Mississagi Park

And we drive through into the Park

You can note bits where you can pitch your tents or RV with tables and BBQ facilities and then we arrive at the beach!

And we arrive at the Park Store

And the rate card for the park

And now we are heading back to base

And what's down here?  Ah!  A gravel pit! :-)

And so we dropped into the Beer Store to get a bottle or two to refresh ourselves in the evening

I also managed to get a few brochures at the park store which I thought might be of interest...
