The
Gaelic College
New Mabou campus offers
opportunities for post-secondary students
My name is Brianna
Kehler. I am a third-year student at Beinn Mhàbu, and am reaching out to
introduce you to a unique opportunity for young adults who have
graduated from high school: Beinn Mhàbu’s Living Cultures Foundation
Year Program, located in the vibrant community of Mabou, Nova Scotia.
This accredited foundation year is offered in partnership with Cape
Breton University (CBU) and is designed for students seeking a
meaningful, community-based educational experience rooted in cultural
identity, self-discovery, and holistic learning.
Beinn Mhàbu is a centre for Gaelic culture, learning, and
community-based living. Students live and study in a supportive
environment that emphasizes cultural sustainability, critical thinking,
and community connection. The Living Cultures Foundations Program offers
a full first year of university credit, with courses in:
History of the Gael
Music and Dance of the Gael
Folklore of the Gael
Literature of the Gael
Scottish Gaelic Language
These courses are delivered in English, and require no previous
knowledge of the subject, wherein students will encounter exciting
interdisciplinary approaches to personal and community development.
