Prince Edward Island, Canada
5
th March 2004

Today I was heading into Charlottetown the capital of P.E.I. for lunch with Kate and Nils.  This gave an opportunity to take some more photos...

And this is where I had an excellent pint of beer and fish and chips along with some good conversation with Kate and Nils.  Certainly recommend this pub if you are coming to Charlottetown.

And there are Kate and Nils standing outside her office. I also took a few pictures of her work on the office walls :-)

And then it was out on my travels so took a few more pictures of Charlottetown before heading out.

The Visitor information centre was very helpful and there is plenty of information here no matter what you are interested in and you can also pick up maps of the island and street maps of the two cities of Charlottetown and Summerside.

I headed back to Stanhope where I attended that historical meeting. They told me about the cairn they had built so I was back to get a picture of it.  The cairn is actually on the golf course just up from the beach but of course with all that snow you wouldn't know either was there :-)

Here you can see the boats and in the other picture the club house

Great looking lighthouse on the beach above Stanhope

And a couple of views from the lighthouse across the snowy and frozen beaches and sea

The picture on the right is a wee story on the side of the lighthouse. I've blown it up larger so you can hopefully read it. I only spotted it at the last moment and then sank ankle deep in mud as I tried to take the picture.  It's thick red mud on the island :-)

Picture on right is the New Glasgow Fire Dept.

And I then headed into the local store to get provisions!

And finally here is a rather good wee brochure which tells you about P.E.I.
